Why sellers use it
The whole catalog in one pass
Upload the export you already have — CSV, TSV or XLSX — and get a category and ID on every row, instead of looking products up one at a time.
A feed you can upload as it is
The confident rows come back as a supplemental feed with the two columns Merchant Center reads, so there is nothing to reformat before you submit it.
Your attention goes where it counts
The unsure rows are split into their own file with the runner-up categories beside each one. You read the short list that is genuinely unclear and ship the rest.
You see the bill before you pay it
A free preview classifies the first rows for real, then shows the exact count and price for the rest. Identical rows are charged once, and a row we cannot answer is refunded.
Credits, not a subscription
Buy credits when you have a catalog to fix. Nothing renews and nothing expires, so a one-off cleanup costs a one-off amount.
Where it stops
The honest limits, so nothing about the tool surprises you later.
It is only as good as the column you give it
A title-only export is often ambiguous between two neighbouring categories. A description column is the difference between a guess and an answer, and it costs nothing extra.
Some rows still need you
The confidence score exists because not every product maps cleanly. The needs-review file is short by design, but it is not empty — that is where your judgement goes.
You still upload the feed yourself
The run produces the supplemental feed; submitting it to Merchant Center stays in your hands, so nothing goes live without you.
The specifics
- CSV, TSV, XLSX · up to 20MB and 50,000 rows
- 10 rows, classified for real, before you pay anything
- One distinct product. Identical rows are charged once.
- Rows at 90% confidence or above go into supplemental-feed.csv
- Rows below 85% go into needs-review.csv with their runners-up
- Marked in the output and refunded. A row we could not answer is a row you are not charged for.
- Uploads and results are deleted after 7 days
Before you upload
01Include a description column if you have one
A title alone is often ambiguous between two neighbouring categories. One sentence of description is the difference between a guess and an answer, and it costs nothing extra.
02Include the id, sku or handle
Merchant Center matches supplemental data to products by id. Without an id column the run still works, but no supplemental feed can be written.
03Export one row per product, not per variant
Variants of the same product share a category, so they dedupe to one credit anyway — but a variant-level export makes the file larger and slower to read.
04Expect to review some rows
The point of the confidence score is that you spend your attention where it changes the outcome. Read needs-review.csv; skip the rest.
Questions
What file can I upload?
A CSV, TSV or XLSX export of your catalog, up to 20MB and 50,000 rows. One row per product reads fastest; variants of the same product share a category and dedupe to a single credit anyway.
How much does it cost?
One credit per distinct product. Identical rows are charged once, and a row we cannot answer is refunded. The first 10 rows are a free preview run for real, and you see the exact count and price for the rest before anything is spent.
What do I get back?
Three files: supplemental-feed.csv, the confident rows in the two columns Merchant Center reads; needs-review.csv, the unsure rows with their runner-up categories beside each one; and a full file with the category, ID, path and confidence appended to every input row.
Will it put the categories live for me?
No. It produces the supplemental feed; submitting it to Merchant Center stays your step. That keeps you in control of exactly what changes on your account, and when.
How accurate is it?
Every row carries a confidence score. Rows at 90% or above go into the feed; anything below 85% is split into the review file with its runners-up, so you check the few that are genuinely unclear rather than every row.
Do you keep my file?
Uploads and results are deleted after 7 days. The file is stored only so the job can resume and so you can download the output.
One product, not a catalog?
The Finder does single lookups free, no account, up to 20 a day.
